My lab is interested in developing machine learning solutions for a range of real-world problems that arise in various disciplines including bioinformatics, computational biology, biomedical engineering, and energy. The specific problems I have worked on can be listed as follows:

  • Predicting structural properties of proteins (e.g. secondary structure, torsion angles, beta-sheets)
  • Protein function prediction
  • Predicting DNA-protein interactions for homing endonucleases
  • Image analysis for C.elegans embryogenesis
  • Detecting sleep disorders from EEG signals
  • Energy demand forecasting
  • Non-technical loss detection
